MythBusters Season 6
Mythbusters Season 6 will now be known as the season of Mythbusters where the fabulous Kari Byron was hugely pregnant and left half way through the second episode, being replaced by the not nearly as fabulous Jessi Combs only to come back and kick Jessi Combs off five and a half episodes later.
Yes it’s true, half the reason I love Mythbusters is Kari, and I almost chucked Season 6 out when she abruptly left. Fortunately thanks to the power of the internet I knew she returned so ket on watching.
And yes, I know there is more to Mythbusters than just Kari.
If you’ve never seen Mythbusters before (where have you been living?) it’s essentially a show that aimed to debunk or prove urban legends, preferably legends involving shooting or explosions. Fronted by two special effects experts, and all round weird guys, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, who seem to have an ongoing battle to see who can fit the best puns into their episode intros, along with the second team of two young guys and Kari, the show attempts to tackled on average two myths per episode, using whatever means necessary.
If a myth fails on the first try, they’ll often look at alternate ways that the myth could have happened and investigate those as well. Whilst the ultimate aim is to explore the validity of myths and legends, the show’s quasi educational front gets it’s energy from the humour, comradeship and competitive nature of the five hosts.
Though the loss of Kari for five and a half episodes breaks some of the chemistry, she’s back soon enough and the show kicks into top gear.
You’re bound to come away not only entertained, but also a little bit wiser, and you’re bound to find the truth behind something you’ve always wondered about.
