The Ground We Won Coming To DVD & Digital In November
Madman have announced the DVD and digital release of THE GROUND WE WON, one of the most acclaimed New Zealand films in recent years – available November 18th, 2015. New Zealand being the home of the film, it’s also the first territory in the world to release on these platforms.
THE GROUND WE WON is the story of a knock-about rugby team – made up of salt-of-the-earth dairy farmers – staring down the barrel of a long run of bitter losses. With pluck and determination, the men unite to inspire their small community. In the face of the hefty demands of farming and fatherhood, the Saturday game becomes the focus of the men’s passions; the ground on which their worth is proved.
Alternatively heartwarming and heartbreaking, melancholy and hilariously funny, THE GROUND WE WON captures a fascinating season of traditions, debauchery and friendship, as the men reclaim their faith in themselves.
Premiering as part of the New Zealand International Film Festival’s Autumn Events program, the film went on to gross over $320,000 on national release. As part of the film’s cinema release the filmmakers Chris Pryor and Miriam Smith travelled with the film on a highly successful Q&A tour. At peak the film was on over 65 screens around the country.
The film is also having a fantastic response overseas, having been awarded a place in three A-list international film festivals – Locarno Film Festival (Semaine De La Critique), the 31st Warsaw Film Festival and the Melbourne International Film Festival.
The GROUND WE WON will be available on DVD & digital from November 18th ($24.99SRP). The DVD will also contain the special feature PUMICELANDS, a New Zealand National Film Unit documentary by John Feeney.
