Resident Evil: Degeneration
I’m not sure, but after watching Resident Evil: Degeneration, and then viewing the accompanying trailers for Resident Evil 5, the vide game, I have to wonder if this fully CGI movie wasn’t just one big publicity stunt for the game.
The trailer for the game certainly looks more interesting than the movie, which although it did have it’s moments of action, fell way short of anything human actors could have done.
Full kudos to Sony for their efforts, the characters themselves at times seem to have photo-perfect faces, a little too perfect – but their main failing is that everyone, the un-infected and zombies alike, all move with a stilted gait that makes them all seem like zombies to some degree. The only distinguishing feature being the skin colour and appetite for blood.
It seems like, for the time being at least, CGI isn’t ready to replace good script writers an capable actors.
