Bleach Collection 14
So when the opportunity arose to relive my favourite anime from my highschool days, naturally I said yes. Watching this collection reminded me why I love this series, am weirded out by this series and why nothing can beat a shinigami’s bankai sword.
It picks up basically where I last started watching. Collection 14 of Bleach is set in Hueco Mundo, home of the Hollows; our human eating souls that never got a chance to go to soul society (heaven). Ichigo and co. are stuck in an array of battles trying to rescue thier friend Orihime from the grasp of Sosuke Aizen, rogue captain. We also get to find out his master plan for the human world. Thankfully, what was thought to be impossible, the other captains of soul society unite to combat this and provide some much need relief for our beat up heroes.
What follows are some epically amazing and amusing fights between the Captains of Soul Society and the Espada, Aizen’s minions. Of course our good guys get to kick some serious butt. The creativity put into the monsters and fights always surprises me, wierds me out and always leaves wanting more. Except when you just want Zaraki Kenpachi to hurry up and finish the battle you know he’s going to win anyway.
At least after all this seriousness we get a bit of break in the form of a couple of flashback episodes where a princess wants to make a game called Kemari, sort of like soccer, allowed for her people. You do need a break from all the violence sometimes and they do know when to bring that in. Plus it was a nice way to end that story arc.
The comedy as usual is blunt, amusing and quite crass. Of course, I always find it funny that a woman can have size EE rack and still stand up straight while fighting. That’s master Nel, an espada, for you. But hey it’s anime and if you choose to watch it that’s your choice.
It was over all a good few hours spent with some old favourites and and some new ones. Why not get it out? If not to only stare and drool over the awesome fight scenes.
