Skyline
I’d heard bad things about Skyline, but even my low expectation going into viewing this DVD were not enough to make the experience anywhere near enjoyable. When I tell you that my favourite part of the DVD was seeing Eric Balfour’s death head tattoo that I recently saw him acquire in the first season of LA Ink, you know it’s gotta be pretty bad.
But don’t get me wrong, there are a couple of positives about Skyline, for the most part is visually spectacular, and at times manages to make you jump like scary alien invasion films are supposed to. Other than that, Skyline is a poor mash up of Independence Day meets the 2005 version of The Fog.
The story of an alien invasion that sees huge mother-ships beam blue lights to earth then sucking up the population rapture style is on shaky ground right from the start with an incoherent plot and poor acting, and it only seems to know one direction, downwards.
The film saves the worst for last however, with an ending that is so absurd that it’s almost laughable. The only thing that watching this DVD will do is make you pray for an alien invasion to come before the end so that you can be taken to the mother-ship and lobotomized.
