Incoming: 3 Zombie Films
I loved the original [REC] but nether bothered with the scene by scene American remake, Quarantine. Then [REC]2 came along and I was pretty aprehensive, but it turned out to be a pretty solid sequel, which was no mean feat considering it was filmed as a direct continuation at the same location. It even ended with the hint of another sequel. It’s this yet to be made sequel of a sequel that Quarantine 2: The Terminal seems to have gotten it’s idea from. The only problem is that watching this trailer makes the whole affair look like a 70’s B-Grade horror, and not in a good way!
Humans Vs Zombies is looking pretty good – especially next to Quarantine 2: The Terminal. Apparently Humans vs Zombies is a moderated game of tag played at universities, and it seems to be gaining popularity. The game may have influenced this live action film, which while looking cheesy in places looks very rentable, or a contender for the NZFF.
Good zombie comedies are as rare as hens teeth. As are Israeli zombie movies. So you’d have to assume that Poisoned, an Israeli zombie comedy would have to be pretty damn good. The movie seems to be the story of a lovestruck young man in the IDF during a zombie catastrophe. It’s not going to win any awards, and may turn out to be best watched whilst slightly drunk, but it’s something I’d rent on DVD.
