DVD: Generation Wealth
What promised to be a look at social issues surrounding an excess of wealth in America, actually turned out to be more of a retrospective look at director Lauren Greenfield’s own portfolio of work with no clear objective in mind. Sure this photographer turned documentary maker has some interesting stories mixed up in her own personal expose of motherhood, but none of them are fleshed out in a meaningful way.
The feeling you come away with is one of a bitter daughter who hasn’t forgiven her mother for abandoning her in pursuit of her American dream, whilst at the same time conveniently ignoring the fact that she did just the same to her own family.
