DVD: It Comes At Night
*May contain spoilers.
It Comes At Night suffers greatly from that beastly menace, clueless Hollywood PR. Yes, when given the task of promoting what could have been a menacing slow burn of a post viral outbreak film, they instead promoted an edge of your seats horror/thriller about the scary shit stalking your remote house at night. Of course with a name like It Comes At Night they were probably as confused as you will be, because nothing comes at fucking night. There are no real monsters, no real nightly threat, it’s a pandemic film, pure and simple. The only danger is catching what ever it is. And as a horror thriller, It Comes At Night falls short of achieving anything.
However had it gone by a different name and promoted way differently this could have been a slow burn masterpiece, albeit one that fails to realsie when it should stop and ruins any chance of redemption as a film.
As it is, It Comes At Night is one to be avoided.
