Christopher Tolkien claims the Tolkien family is owed $200 million by New Line Cinema over the hugely successful Lord of the Rings trilogy.
He will ask a Californian judge on June 6 to “terminate” film rights to The Hobbit, Britain’s The Sunday Times reported.
Peter Jackson, who directed the Rings trilogy, is to produce two Hobbit films. Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro is set to direct.
