Poster Rejects: The Cove
Of all the documentaries available at this year’s New Zealand International Film Festival, it seems that The Cove is the one that has grabbed most peoples attention. I think it’s going to be getting a general release later in the year, and it’s certainly one to watch out for.
As with any film these days, the giant publicity machine, fed by the various distributors around the world, creates a range of posters to help promote any given film. Along with the ones we see are the ones that didn’t make the cut. Sometimes (as with the British poster for Let The Right One In) the powers that be seem oblivious to the content of the film and choose the worst poster available.
From memory, the poster used during the NZFF is the blue underwater one below. Below that however is another poster designed by a British design firm, and released as the ‘international’ poster fro Cove. Underneath the red ‘international’ poster are the three rejects, the one’s not chosen.
What do you think? Did the powers that be, choose the right poster for The Cove, or do you prefer one of the rejects?
