Fallout Movie or TV Series in Development?
If you happen to dig the post-apocalyptic genre, you’ll definitely be interested to hear that the Fallout video game series might be coming to either the big screen or the small screen at some point in the near future. Joystiq reports that developer Bethesda Softworks have recently trademarked the Fallout name for both “entertainment services in the nature of an on-going television program” and also “motion picture films about a post-nuclear apocalyptic world”. While it may only be a standard procedure in planning for the future of the franchise, with no production deals announced thus far, it certainly sounds like promising news.
Their most recent installment, Fallout 3, won a number of awards for game of the year in 2008, and would probably lend itself well to either a movie or TV adaptation. The story takes place in a world where World War II led to nuclear destruction. 200 years later, a child who was born from survivors living in a government-sponsored underground shelter, ventures out into the world in search of his missing father.
