Mel Gibson’s Darkness
Mel Gibson is set to star in new movie Edge of Darkness.
The 52-year-old actor will play a police investigator in the big-screen adaptation of the 1985 TV mini-series, which was broadcast on the BBC.
It is Gibson’s first starring role since 2002 movies Signs and We Were Soldiers. He then directed 2004’s The Passion of the Christ and Apocalypto in 2006.
In the movie, Gibson’s character uncovers systemic corruption while investigating the death of his activist daughter.
The Mad Max star has always been a fan of the mini-series and was keen to sign up when producer Graham King and director Martin Campbell approached him several months ago.
Shooting on the independently financed project begins in Boston in August. [stuff]
