DVD Review: Step Up 5 All In
Step Up 5 All In is obviously the 5th film in the Step Up franchise (unless they’ve done something like GTA and thrown a few releases in without the numbers) and I’m not sure that this one brings anything new to the series. Though to be honest, I wouldn’t really know! However, what I do know is that it’s a pretty formulaic film with a story that has been told many, many times before. Therefore it’s also predictable, so I’m not going to worry about spoilers.
A dance crew who made a big splash and secured a single ad deal finds itself struggling to build on their brief moment of fame , have run out of money and decide to call it quits. Well, everyone except the lead dude, who goes off at his former dance mates and decides living in a broom cupboard and cleaning toilets is better than admitting defeat. But then he see’s the opportunity he’s been looking for and recruits a new dance crew – I know, totally didn’t even bother reach out to his old crew, how sad is that. But good news is his new crew makes the cut and in the competition they are.
Oh snap, so did his old dance crew. Awkward. But who will win the competition that will set them up for life? Well, there’s easy money right there. But will they need to enlist the help of some old friends to achieve their goals? Who knows, guess you’ll have to watch the film to find out!
So I’m a little sarcastic about Step Up 5. But it’s not a bad film, its entertaining and certainly has some great dance routines, it’s just not really aimed at me.
