Gran Torino to Be Clint Eastwood’s Final Acting Gig?
I guess this shouldn’t come as a big surprise, but with all the talk of Joaquin Phoenix retiring from acting, it looks like Clint Eastwood is preparing to do the same. Of course, Clint Eastwood isn’t planning to launch a music career as far as I know, he’s simply looking to concentrate on directing instead.
According to Cinema Blend, Eastwood recently told an Irish newspaper that Gran Torino will likely be his last time in front of the camera:
“It’ll probably be my last. I’ll be drummed out of it after this one. Every time you do a movie you think, ‘Aw, that’s enough of that.’… I always feel it’s very comfortable to be behind the camera.”
Prior to this, his last performance was in Million Dollar Baby, and before that the movies Blood Work and Space Cowboys. There’s no mistaking the fact that Clint is getting older, but he still seems to be in pretty great shape for a guy who’s 78. What do you think, is this a good decision? Would you rather see Clint Eastwood do more acting, or are his directing gigs much more interesting at this point? [/film]
