Rush Hour 3
Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan return as Detective James Carter and Chief Inspector Lee, respectively, in the third installment of the Rush Hour franchise. Set mainly in France and going up against the triads again, Rush Hour 3 has a very exotic, yet big city feel to it that lends itself well to large action set pieces that are both spectacular and funny. The problem is that it’s relying on a tried and tested formula that has grown stale and unlike the fresh action of the first, Rush Hour Part 3 seems a little grid locked.
There is probably just enough storyline and action to keep the average punter happy, but if you come to this movie with high expectations, you’re bound to be disappointed.
On the upside, as minor role as he has, the American hating, French taxi driver is worth the price of renting this movie, for a lighthearted night with plenty of popcorn.
Food for thought:
Carter and Lee have a serious falling out in this movie where they go their separate ways, eventually coming back together with the realisation that they are stronger as a team, working together to overcome their adversaries.
