The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
Welcome back boobytrapped temples, civilizations frozen in time, and good old fashion family dynamics? The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor has it all. Watch as the Father son duo of Rick(Brendan Fraser) and Alex(Luke Ford), wife and mother Evelyn(Maria Bello) O’Connell, along with Evelyn’s brother Jonathan(John Hannah), accidentally wake up the cursed Han Emperor(Jet Li).
After a 2,000 year old curse, place on him by witch Zi Juan(Michelle Yeoh), to keep him in suspended animation, this mummy is awake and ready to resume his plans for having the entire world yield to his command and will. If the O’Connells and company don’t get to him before he wakes up his entire sleeping army, that will be the end of the world as we know it.
This movie takes you all over Asia, from excavating catacombs in China, to the snowy Himalayas with a few unexpected helpers, to the majestic Shangri La to find the key to immortatlity. There’s nothing like a trip around the world chasing mummys to bring a distant family together again, rekindle the romance in Rick and Evy’s marriage, and also find new romance for son Alex and Lin(Isabella Leong), who just happens to be immortal…like her mother Zi Juan. And all the while, Jonathan wants nothing more that to get as far as he can, away from mummys!
The CG’s where dissapointing, and the fact that Evelyn was replaced was distracting. However, the movie did a good job of allowing those who haven’t seen either of the previous mummy movies still follow this one and be enjoyed. With action, adventure and well choreographed sword and gun fights around every corner, this movie will keep you entertained. And wondering where the mummy saga will continue…Peru?
